Presentation of the key art film «Kharms» at the Berlin Film Market.

On February 11th 2016 Proline Film will present the key art film «Kharms» at the Russian stand, organized by ROSKINO at the Berlin International Film Market.

An international team of designers worked on the creation of the key art film at the base of which lay the artistic figure of the main protagonist of the film as well as the monogram of the name of the poet- KHARMS - divided into two sections: a black and white part symbolising the documentary chronicles of life in Kharms time, colour symbolising his contemporary presence.

Guests of the festival will be presented with the poster and flyers of the film and all those present will have an opportunity to watch the trailer for the film.

The poster of the key art film «Kharms» will be published on February 19 2016 on the site of Proline Film (the production company) http://prolinefilm.ru/

«KHARMS» is the first Russian feature film about the Soviet writer and poet Daniil Yuvachev. December 30 2015 marked the 110th year since the date of his birth. Impudent and eccentric, foolhardy and forthright, always playing close to the edge, with a constant razor sharp wit… The works of this avant-garde writer are sometimes as obscure to the normal reader as they are to the author himself.

Ivan Bolotnikov, director: Our film is an attempt to tease out the secret of the appeal of someone who we can judge through the fragments of his works, information scattered about in various memoirs and which combined speak of the significance of the whole, hidden under the pseudonym of “Kharms”.

Andre Sigle, producer: «The appearance of Ivan Bolotnikov with his idea for a film about Kharms was a strangely mystical moment for me. I had long been thinking about such an idea. For me Kharms is an icon of style and creativity. Completely unconventional, rarely understood, a star, an extra terrestrial about whom I’ve always felt an urge to talk about. So our stars collided and I understood that the time had come».

Catherine Mtsitouridze, chief executive of ROSKINO: «Kharms today is perhaps the most topical of all our great authors. The characters of his works are recognisable, his dialogues are copies of those of our everyday life, his sarcasm and irony are full of significance for contemporary life. It is wonderful that the producers from St. Petersburg, always noted for their non-conformism, have opted for such a film».

The film «KHARMS» is an international project, a co-production of Russia, Lithuania and Macedonia. The film script received support from the Dutch ‘Hubert Bals Fund’of the Rotterdam Film Festival. The Russian Ministry of Culture and the European Film Fund «Eurimages», the Lithuanian Film centre and the Cinema Agency of the Macedonian Republic all provided financial support for the film.

A successful presentation of the film’s trailer took place at the Venice International Film Market in September 2015.

The film premiere is planned for the second half of 2016.
