Johannes Zeiler
Born and raised in East Styria, close to the Hungarian and Slovenian borders.
That rural culture, the local way to speak, to swear, the way to work and to celebrate I consider my roots.
The prospect of becoming an actor lay somewhere far beyond this world. A lot of time had to pass after my first success on stage as „First Eskimo“ at age of eight . A lot of performer’s steam had to build up over the years until I decided to become an actor.
I received my training at Vienna’s Max-Reinhardt-Seminar and had wonderful opportunities there to work with such artists as Ferruccio Soleri, Oleg Tabakov and Samy Molcho.
During my very first shoot in 1996 I was lucky to work with the experienced director Robert Dornhelm and to learn from my colleague Maria Schrader.
My first years in theatre were spent fully immersing myself in various roles.
In 1999 I became a member of Peter Stein’s renowned Faust-Ensemble. We performed a 21 hour marathon show of both parts of Goethe’s Faust.
Now I live in Vienna with a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters. Professionally I’m in a position to choose my theater engagements according to shooting schedules.
This coming winter I will star as Bruno Kreisky, the legendary Austrian chancellor. This will finally determine me as a player of all ages.
