Eva-Maria Kurz
Eva-Maria Kurz was born in Stuttgart in 1944, where she also grew up.
After leaving school she studied psychology at the University of Tübingen from which she graduated with the degree of 'Diplom-Psychologin' in 1974; in the following years Eva-Maria was employed by the university to work with disturbed students.
During that time she came in touch with new exciting movements in theatre work; in particular the company of George Tabori and the director Klaus Michael Grüber had great impression and impact on her.
So she felt that she had to strike a new path: in 1984 Eva-Maria moved to Berlin, where she did her first steps in off-stage-theatres and attended professional acting trainings.
Shortly afterwards she encountered the filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim. He gave her the chance to have her first leading part in a film; and subsequently she worked with him in various projects as an actress, developing screenplays et al.
Since then Eva-Maria has passionately continued her career as an actress and also as a speaker in radio plays and features. She performed in a wide range of parts in numerous films, cinema and television, working with several renowned directors such as Christoph Schlingensief (Das deutsche Kettensägenmassaker, Terror 2000), Margarethe von Trotta (Jahrestage), Eoin Moore (Tatort: Altlasten), Tevfik Baser (Abschied vom falschen Paradies), Oliver Storz (Drei Tage im April, Drei Schwestern made in Germany).
Moreover, she acted in many theatre plays; recently, in 2009/2010 she appeared on stage in the drama "Das Versprechen" ("The Promise") by Friedrich Dürrenmatt in Bern, Switzerland and in Salzburg, Austria.
Throughout her work she had shown a distinct preference for peculiar, not everyday characters and for projects off the beaten track.
And she is still looking forward to new unconventional challenges...
