Andrei Shundrin is an unsuccessful actor who works as a dancer and gigolo in a night club. One day he is told that he has been chosen from thousands of candidates for a role in the online game “Metropolis.” He is informed by “Anonymous,” who introduces himself as a representative of the Systems Administrator. The contest is a survival game with contestants called Cinderella, Rube, Skinhead, Count, and Transmission. The online spectators place bets on the players, who have to do the challenges given to them to get points, bonuses or monetary prizes. Andrei likes the idea. He takes the bait and enters this online reality show under the name of The Dancer.
At first things go great. His rating goes up and he gets more and more points. And then he gets a new challenge – to commit murder. The Dancer suspects that the game is really a crime structure – and that it’s almost impossible to get out alive. It’s headed by the Administrator, the man without a face who appears in various disguises. The Dancer comes to the conclusion that the only way out of the game is to destroy it from within. Together with a young woman hacker named The Arrow, he decides to throw down the gauntlet to the Administrator. And that’s when the game is noticed by the High Technology Organized Crime Division…
