The Chechen Republic, present day, a Russian garrison. Alexandra has come to see her grandson, one of the best officers in his unit. She will spend a few days here and discover a new world. In this world of men, there is no warmth, no comfort, and no women. Living conditions are barren and people are afraid to show their feelings – or perhaps they simply don’t have the energy or time. This is a place where life hangs in the balance every hour of every day. But it is still world inhabited by human beings.
