«Faust» wins top honours at the NikaFaust has walked away with the top prizes at the main annual national film award in Russia
Aleksander Sokurov’s version of Goethe’s drama won the awards for:
1. «Best Film» (Proline Film company, director- Aleksander Sokurov, producer – Andrey Sigle)
A. Sigle: This motion picture, thanks to an international team of film professionals, has managed to combine the cultural traditions and the spirit of Europe and Russia. I am grateful to all those who worked on «Faust», and I am glad that our work was highly regarded, not only abroad but also at home. Now television premiere is ahead, because not all the audience had the opportunity to go to cinema.
2. «Best Director» (Aleksander Sokurov)
A. Sokurov: I want to heartily thank my colleagues, my film crew. Thank you very much
3. «Best Actor» (Anton Adasinsky). Anton Adasinsky, who played Mephistopheles in «Faust», shared the award for Best Actor with Maksim Sukhanov of «The Horde» (Maksim has the main role new project of Proline film company - «The Role» by Konstantin Lopushansky)
4. «Best writing» (Yuri Arabov) .
«With «Faust» I had a powerful co-author – Goethe – and with «The Horde» it was hagiography…» - Y. Arabov said when he accepted the award.
