Andrey Sigle

Andrei Sigle was born in Ghorky on the 15th of May, 1964 and the same year Sigle moved to Leningrad. Andrey started to study music since he was 5.

After Andrei had graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov music college he entered Leningrad State Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov, piano class (studio of Ms. Zarukina). He was invited by the head of the Sweden Royal Academy to study the profession of a film music composer, which became the unique precedent in Russia.

In the middle of the 80th he became keen on synthesizers, and other instruments which allow imitating the sounds of the symphonic orchestra. Andrey participated in the recording of the albums for such music groups as «Kino», «Alisa», «Nautilus-Pompilius», and also solo projects by Sergey Kurehin and Boris Grebenshikov. He worked as an arranger, sound designer and keyboard player for those albums.

He also worked as a musician together with Victor Tsoi and «Kino» at the creation of the film «Igla» («The Spire») (1988), «Sobachye Serdtse» («The Dog’s Heart») (1988), took part in the project named «Posetitel Museya»(«The Visitor in the Museum») by Konstantin Lopushansky, where the composer was famous Alfred Schnitke (1989).

Andrei made his début as a film music composer in the film «Klesh» («The Tick» 1990), where Alexander Baranov and Bahit Kalibaev were the film directors. This project had become a turning point in his career and from that moment Andrei started to compose music for motion pictures only.

Among his works are:

«Sensation» by Boris Gorlov, «Koleso Lubvi» («The Wheel of Love») by Ernest Yasan, «Poslednee Delo Varenogo» («The Last Case by Vareniy») by Vitaly Melnikov, «Prohindiada-2» by Alexander Kaliagin, «Russian Symphony» by Konstantin Lopushansky, «Chetirnadtsat Tsvetov Radugi» («The Fourteen Colors of Rainbow») by Dmitry Svetozarov.

Andrei Sigle became a composer of the first Russian TV-series named «Ulitsi Razbitih Fonarey» («The Streets of Broken Lights»).

In 1998-2000 he wrote the music for the TV-series «Agent Natsionalnoy Bezopasnosti» («The Agent of National Security»), «Po Imeni Baron» («Named Baron»).

A new turn in the Andrei’s biography started with the projects «Telets» («The Taurus»), «Otets i Syn» («The Father and The Son»), «Solntse» («The Sun»), where he worked together with Alexander Sokurov, Russian film director.

A.S.D.S. (ACDC) Film Production Company was established in 2002 by Andrey Sigle and Russian film director Dmitry Svetozarov. The TV series «Tantsor» («The Dancer»), «Tri Tsveta Lubvi» («Three colors of Love»), «Favorsky», «Vepr’» («Boar»), «Syndicate» and also full feature films «Povodyr» («Guide») by Alexandr Khvan and «Prestuplenie I Nakazanie» («Crime and Punishment») by Dmitry Svetozarov were released by this studio.

The first film «The Sun» by Alexander Sokurov (together with «Nikola-film») was presented at the 55th Anniversary International Berlin Film Festival in 2005. At present, the studio is completely work on the film «The Role» directed by Konstantin Lopushansky and the film «Arventur» by Irina Evteeva

Andrei Sigle is a producer and a composer at almost all projects of his studios. However he writes music not only for his own projects but also to the films, which, at his opinion, develop Russian author’s cinematography.

Works of Andrey Sigle were awarded many times.
For the music to the films «Remote access» by Svetlana Proskurina and «Ugly Swans» by Konstantin Lopushansky in Sochi at the “Kinotavr” festival Andrei was awarded as the best composer.

For the film «Alexandra» Andrei was awarded a prestigious prize «Time for peace film and music awards». At Russian and foreign festivals there was special mention of Andrei Sigle as a producer, who develops author’s cinematography.
